Privacy notice
Smile Casting Talent Agency (“Smile Casting”, “we”, “us”) is a London talent agency. This notice explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we look after it and what rights you have. We handle personal information in line with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Smile Casting is responsible for the personal information described here. Our address is 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. For anything to do with your information, contact Georgina Morelle on 020 8133 0320 or at info@smile-casting.com.
What we collect and where it comes from
We collect information that you give us, for example when you use our contact form, apply for representation, send us an email, call us or sign an agreement with us. It can include:
- your name, contact details and location
- headshots, showreels, CVs, credits, skills and physical attributes such as playing age, height and accents, which you give us so we can put you forward for work
- your availability, bookings and the details of jobs you do through us
- bank details, so that we can pay you
- details of casting directors, producers and clients we work with, including their business contact details
We also receive information from casting directors, production companies and casting platforms about roles and bookings that involve you.
Why we use it
- to represent you and put you forward for work, including self-tapes, auditions and bookings (our contract with you)
- to arrange, invoice and pay for bookings (our contract with you, and our legal duty to keep accounts)
- to reply to enquiries and applications (our legitimate interest in running an agency, or steps taken at your request)
- to keep in touch about work, news and changes to our service (our legitimate interest, or your consent where the law requires it)
- to keep our website and systems secure, and to meet legal and regulatory duties
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
Who we share it with
We share information only where we need to, and only what is needed. This can include:
- casting directors, producers, production companies, brands and clients, so they can consider and book you
- casting and talent platforms we use to submit people for work, such as Spotlight
- suppliers who help us run the agency, such as our website host, email and storage providers, scheduling and booking software, accountants and payment providers
- professional advisers, regulators, the police or courts, where the law requires or allows it
Some of these suppliers may handle information outside the UK. Where they do, we use suppliers that protect it to UK standards, for example through approved contract terms.
Children and young people
We represent some performers under 18. For them we deal with a parent or guardian, who gives us the information and agrees on the young person’s behalf. We keep this information to the minimum needed and look after it with extra care. See our safeguarding and parents page.
How long we keep it
We keep information only for as long as we need it for the reasons above, or as long as the law requires, for example for tax records. If you leave the agency, we keep only what we need for our records and to meet our legal duties. Enquiries that do not lead to representation are deleted after a reasonable period.
How we keep it safe
We use passwords, access controls and trusted providers to protect your information. Our website uses an encrypted connection. No system is completely secure, so please take care with what you send by email.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong
- ask us to delete your information, in some circumstances
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to certain uses
- ask for your information in a portable format, in some circumstances
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it
To use any of these rights, email info@smile-casting.com. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
